Communications/Public Relations: Community Relations
Community Affairs & Promotions Coordinator - Gwinnett Braves (Lawrenceville, GA)

The Community Affairs and Promotions Coordinator will work under the direction of the Assistant General Manager

Community Affairs/Promotions

  • Initiate and build relationships with prospective corporate and foundation donors as well as local nonprofits, community groups and charitable organizations

  • Identify opportunities for the Gwinnett Braves to promote themselves in the Gwinnett community and surrounding counties

  • Recruitment and communication of all Kids Club Initiatives

  • Planning and execution of all Kids Club events

  • Planning and execution of all youth camps

  • Manage the fulfillment of donation requests

  • Assist with hiring members of the Chop Squad

  • Coordinate Mascot appearances

  • Plan monthly explorer post learning event

  • Write community pieces as needed for the Tomahawk Talk Publication and Gwinnett Braves website

Game Day Responsibilities

  • Ensure Chop Squad is properly scheduled, trained and tasked

  • Facilitate the execution of pre-game ceremonies

  • Work with Chop Squad to execute on-field in game promotions

  • Assist in distribution of game day assets

  • Responsible for 50/50 raffle Braves Foundation initiative

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other:

  • Understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures and an ability to relate well with individuals of diverse backgrounds.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including an outgoing, proactive can do personality

  • Strong organizational, communication and presentation skills including, networking skills with large groups as well as individuals.

  • Self-motivated and disciplined with demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner with limited supervision

  • Ability to work independently and autonomously while partnering with team members and cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to plan, organize, and effectively present ideas and concepts to groups.

  • Able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.

 

Minimum requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or appropriate sports related degree

2 years’ experience in a professional sports environment

Previous supervisory experience

Strong understanding and knowledge of basic rules, regulations for minor league baseball

Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office

Must complete a successful Criminal and Credit background check

Spanish/English speaker preferred but not required

Communications/Public Relations: Media/Public Relations Servicing
Gwinnett Braves Media Relations Trainee - Gwinnett Braves (Lawrenceville, GA)

The Media Relations Trainee will assist the Media Relations Manager in all aspects of the Media/PR department including but not limited to: creating and editing media guides and publications, writing press releases and post-game stories, writing feature stories on players and coaches, recording and updating statistical records, and management of the press box and media requests.

Requirements:
- Recent college graduate possessing a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Sports Management or related field
- Previous sports writing experience at either the collegiate or professional level

- Detail-oriented, organized and excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to multi-task and work with strict deadlines
- Extensive knowledge of baseball rules and scoring
- Experience with graphic design (Photoshop, InDesign)
- Ability to learn multiple computer programs quickly
- Website editing and HTML coding knowledge a plus
- Flexible schedule: available January - September; able to work nights and weekends on non-game days as needed

Responsibilities:
- Create and update statistical records for daily distribution to coaches and media

- Write post-game stories and press releases, contribute to daily game notes

- Write feature stories for the team website and gameday program

- Assist with the creation and editing of the yearly media guide

- Handle media requests, including requests for credentials and player/coach interviews

- Collect and distribute press “clippings” to the entire front office

- Oversee press box staff and fill in on positions as necessary (Field Timing Coordinator, MILB Gameday Stringer)

- Assist Media Relations Manager and Social Media Coordinator in the team’s social media efforts, as needed

- Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by other Department Managers, or General Manager
