The Indianapolis Indians Merchandise Department is searching for two hard-working and reliable individuals to serve as Game Day Merchandise Interns for the 2015 season. Candidates are typically recent- or under-graduate college students who will be living in central Indiana from April through August.
The ideal candidate should be energetic, customer friendly, organized, and likes to work on their feet. Experience in customer service and/or retail is preferred but not required.
Game Day Duties:
• Vend programs and other merchandise as needed
• Help to organize and keep stores and merchandise storage rooms clean
• Assist program seller and any other merchandise vendors
• Assist customers and other game day staff as needed
• Run cash register when needed
• Assist with the re-stock of the store and preparing inventory for sale
• Resumes will be accepted through April 3rd, 2015
Dates & Hours:
• Preferred candidates would be available for most regular-season home games between April 9 and September 5th
• School and work conflicts must be brought to the managers attention at least one week prior to the assigned game
• Report time will typically be 3 hours before first pitch for most home games. Intern will generally stay 1 hour after the end of each game. (Generally 6-7 hours total)
• $35 per game

Looking for a candidate to work the 2015 baseball season (April-Aug.) interested in learning all aspects of the public relations and communications field with a professional sports team. It's essential that applicants to this position have excellent communication skills, demonstrate creativity, and understand the importance of hitting and exceeding deadlines down to the smallest detail.
Generate feature story ideas for print, electronic and internet media
Schedule and coordinate speaking engagements, appearances, photo shot lists, and other special events
Screen phone calls
Create interview preparation materials
Write and distribute informative, accurate news releases, advisories and other materials for the Indianapolis Indians and Victory Field
Assist with game day media relations, clubhouse and press box operations
Develop and maintain targeted distribution lists of local and regional media contacts
Monitor all forms of media, and use department’s media tracking service and measure media hits
Help with management of in-season media/team event(s)
Assist with the management of photography files
Assist with maintaining annual editorial and media pitch calendars
Collaborate with Indians staff members to achieve effective marketing/communications for the organization
Other duties as assigned
Strong communication skills and majoring in or graduated with a degree Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or related area of concentration. Applicants should also have strong overall understanding of social media.
Skills & Abilities:
A working knowledge of AP writing and editing style
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a stressful environment
Organizational skills and strong attention to detail
Proficient with Microsoft Office and publishing software including PhotoShop, InDesign and Illustrator
Strong knowledge of professional baseball, rules and scoring
Ability to work up to 14 hours per day, up to 100 hours per week
Dates: March 2015 – September 15, 2015
Hours: 40+ hours per week in addition to all home games
Compensation: $800/month plus housing; $900/month without housing
